"There's no place like home." ~ Dorothy from L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz
Dorothy and L. Frank Bean cannot be more correct. There truly is no place like home, especially during the holidays. Anyone who has spent the holidays away from their family and friends knows the heartache the distance causes. For children in the hospital during the holidays, the heartache is even more painful. Doctors and nurses try their best to infuse the hospital with as much holiday spirit as they can, but it doesn't completely fill the heartache or fix the homesickness a child feels while laying in a hospital bed instead of at home. Lights For Kids aims to help make the heartache and homesickness a little less severe for hospitalized children by giving them lights to decorate their hospital rooms with. The lights provide them with a sense of comfort, joy, and ease that can be hard to find in the hospital. They also remind the kids that even during the darker moments, there will always be light.
Due to COVID-19, most children's hospitals across the nation have changed their visitation policies to only allow one parent, guardian, or caregiver per patient and no siblings or friends. This has made the efforts of Lights For Kids more essential than ever before. The goal of Lights For Kids is to be there for kids when current situations makes it hard for their parents to be there instead. We were hit hard in 2020. Our efforts have been great and we've made a larger impact than ever before but, unfortunately, our fundraisers and collection drives have turned out record low results. We are trying our best to keep impacting as many children as possible but we need your help.
YOU can impact a child's happiness. Your donation helps hospitalized children experience a sense of comfort, happiness, and ease. Please donate to Lights For Kids and help us bring happiness to as many children as possible! Every little bit helps!
